Tradition has it that after the Acharya had dispersed all the non-Vedic creeds prevailing in the country, He was on the look-out for a convenient and holy place where he could establish an institution to spread the truths of Advaita Vedanta.
The 33rd Jagadguru
In the unbroken lineage of Jagadgurus of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham stretching directly back to Sri Adi Shankaracharya, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Narasimha Bharati Mahaswamiji is the 33rd Jagadguru.
Sringeri Sharada Peetha
The Sharadamba Temple at Shringeri (Shringa giri in Sanskrit) is an 8th-century temple, founded by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. It housed a sandalwood statue of Shardamba in a standing posture, which was installed by Adi Shankarachaya until the Vijayanagara rulers and Sri Vidyaranya (12th Jagadguru) installed a seated gold statue of Sri Shardamba in the 14th century.
Shisya Sweekara Ceremony
hishya Sweekara of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peethadhipati, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji commenced at Sringeri on 22nd January 2015. At 8 am, the successor-designate, Brahmachari Kuppa Venkateshwara Prasada Sharma first had Darshan of the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji in Guru Nivas, Narasimha Vanam and offered Guru Vandanam.
